preparation

this is the beginning. perhaps. i have been provisionally accepted to the university of kwazulu-natal in durban, south africa, however nothing will be made official until at least january 12th, when the graduate faculty comes back from holiday. interesting, since orientation starts january 28th... i have submitted for my student permit, after quite the run around from the south africa embassy and a 4:58pm sneak into the post office on a friday afternoon. still no word on travel plans, rotary is figuring that out for me, so perhaps i will know soon? when people ask me when i am leaving i shrug and say "mid-january." i figure this is all an exercise in remaining calm in the face of uncertainty, a lot of uncertainty. so far, i am still breathing.
